CC-2026-06161 · Code Complaint · IN_PROGRESS
Highly Hazardous -- I am requesting a Code Enforcement inspection for an active insect infestation in my rental apartment at 1660 Peachtree St. NE, Apartment 3105. I first notified property management in writing of an ant infestation on August 12, 2026 at approximately 11:41 p.m. The following day, management canceled my maintenance request and stated that Orkin would treat the apartment the following week. While awaiting treatment, the infestation substantially worsened and spread through multiple areas of the apartment, including my pantry, walls/baseboards, bathroom, and kitchen area. I have photographs and videos documenting significant numbers of ants inside the apartment, as well as screenshots of the original maintenance request and its cancellation. The infestation contaminated my pantry and resulted in the disposal of a substantial amount of stored food. The pantry has since been emptied, but ants continue entering the apartment despite the removal of accessible food. I reported the worsening infestation to management again on August 18 and have continued notifying both onsite management and The Connor Group in writing. Professional pest treatment is currently scheduled for Friday, August 21, but the infestation remains active as of August 20. On August 19, I was verbally told by onsite management that treatment of ants is a “courtesy” provided by the property and that management considers pests such as rats and roaches to be its responsibility. I am requesting that Code Enforcement determine whether the present insect infestation complies with Atlanta Housing Code requirements and inspect my apartment. I am available to provide access for an interior inspection and can provide photographs, videos, work-order records, and management correspondence upon request.

Highly Hazardous -- I am requesting a Code Enforcement inspection for an active ant/insect infestation in my rental apartment at 1660 Peachtree St. NE, Apartment 3105. I first notified management in writing on August 12, 2026 at approximately 11:41 p.m. Management canceled that maintenance request the following morning and stated that Orkin would treat the apartment the following week. The infestation initially appeared in my bathroom and later spread to other areas of the apartment, including my pantry, kitchen area, walls/baseboards, and other locations. I do not know the source. I am concerned it may involve another unit or a building-wide pathway and would like that evaluated. The infestation became severe enough that a substantial amount of pantry food had to be discarded. The pantry has since been emptied, but ants continued entering the apartment. The condition has also materially interfered with normal use of my bathroom, pantry, and kitchen. Management sent maintenance staff on August 20 to apply an interim insecticide spray. Professional Orkin treatment was then specifically scheduled for August 21 between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. As of approximately 2:40 p.m. on August 21, the scheduled treatment window has passed, no Orkin technician has arrived, and we have been unable to obtain an update from the leasing office despite attempts to contact them. I remain available and willing to provide access for treatment and inspection. I was also told verbally by onsite management that treatment of ants is considered a “courtesy,” while pests such as rats and roaches are considered management’s responsibility. I have photographs and videos of the infestation, screenshots of the original maintenance request and its cancellation, emails concerning treatment, and other documentation available upon request. I am requesting an interior Code Enforcement inspection and a determination of whether the current conditions and management’s response comply with Atlanta housing-code requirements concerning insect/pest infestations.
