REQUEST FOR TEMPORARY CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY (TCO)
Property Address: 4702 W. San Jose Street, Tampa, FL 33629
Project Type: Residential Reconstruction – Owner-Builder
Applicant: Tatiana Maciel
I am respectfully requesting a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO) for our primary residence, which is being reconstructed following the extensive damage caused by Hurricane Helene in September 2024.
Our home reconstruction is now in its final stages, with the majority of construction substantially completed. We are currently working with our contractors to finalize the remaining installations, finishing items, and required inspections to obtain the final Certificate of Occupancy.
Unfortunately, after more than a year of displacement due to the hurricane, our rental lease expired, and we were required to vacate our temporary residence. With no alternative location available to store our household belongings, we had to move our furniture and personal possessions into our reconstructed home.
However, I would like to emphasize that we are not currently residing in or occupying the property. My family and I are temporarily staying with friends while awaiting the City’s authorization to occupy our home.
This situation has created considerable hardship for our family, as we have been displaced for an extended period and are now without a permanent place to live. We are doing everything possible to complete the remaining construction requirements and coordinate the necessary inspections as quickly as possible.
As the homeowner and owner-builder, I respectfully request the City’s consideration of our circumstances and approval of a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy, provided all essential safety and habitability requirements are satisfied.
We fully understand the importance of complying with the Florida Building Code and the City of Tampa’s requirements. We are committed to completing all outstanding work, addressing any inspection deficiencies, and obtaining the final Certificate of Occupancy promptly.
Our intention is simply to return to our family home as soon as it is safe and legally permissible to do so.
Thank you for your time, understanding, and consideration of our family’s circumstances.
Tatiana Maciel

Revision to approved site plan to identify removal of existing protected tree. Tree was originally designated to remain. During installation of the sanitary sewer service, excavation/trenching resulted in significant damage to the tree root system. The City of Tampa Natural Resources/Arborist subsequently inspected the tree and determined that removal and site mitigation are required. CMP No. 26-001223 Revised site plan identifies the affected tree for removal and proposed mitigation. CMP No. 26-001223 - see revised site plan showing which Tree needs to be removed
