TENANT COMPLAINT
SR #26-37636 - ***Please note that there are dogs on the property, so an appointment or advance notice is required to safely secure them before the inspector enters the backyard or dwelling.*** / Active structural and electrical safety hazard on private rental property. The property has an unresolved, major roof leak that was reported to the landlord on August 18th. The water has severely compromised the interior bathroom ceiling, causing a large, active, expanding water bulge directly adjacent to an electrical light fixture. The bulge fills and expands rapidly during rain events (currently, after only 1 hour of heavy rain). A contractor inspected the ceiling and stated it is a high-risk electrical/shock hazard and that the light fixture cannot be safely used. The landlord has failed to correct this structural violation for over 60 days, and the interior ceiling is in imminent danger of collapsing. Roof replacement was cancelled Tues Oct 6th due to rain and pushed off until after the weekend with no tarp, despite tenant request.
