Dear Sir or Madam:
On behalf of the project owner, we submit this application for a Special Administrative Permit
(SAP) for the demolition of the existing CAU Barbershop located on the campus of Clark Atlanta University.
The project consists solely of the demolition and removal of an existing approximately 981-
square-foot, one-story structure. No new construction or replacement structure is proposed
as part of this application.
The structure was formerly used as the Clark Atlanta University Barbershop and is currently
vacant and unused. Due to its vacant condition, the building has become susceptible to
unauthorized entry and repeated break-ins, including use by unauthorized occupants. This
condition presents ongoing safety and security concerns for the surrounding campus, including
adjacent student residences and the general area.
Given the building’s lack of an active use and its continued vulnerability to unauthorized access,
Demolition is proposed as a means of eliminating an existing safety and security concern, while
also improving the overall appearance and condition of the site.
