Highly Hazardous -- ***Unit 502*** - Severe gnat infestation caused by ongoing, unresolved water intrusion and possible open plumbing or water drain. Property Condition & Root Cause: There is a history of standing water inside the unit lasting for several weeks. Additionally, there is an active, open PVC pipe inside the maintenance closet that drips water into another pipe below it. The maintenance supervisor confirmed this to me after I reported hearing constant dripping. The moisture issue and water pipe have created an active breeding ground for a severe gnat infestation. Severity and Impact: Gnat activity began roughly a week ago and has grown progressively worse. There are now several gnats daily, which I am actively catching on traps. The insects are swarming critical living areas, including food preparation surfaces, my work desk/computer area, the bathroom, and around my bed while sleeping. They are flying into my eyes and disrupting my basic eating, working, and sleeping conditions. To cope, I have to keep the apartment at extreme low temperatures. Landlord Notification & Timeline: • October 3, 2026: Formally notified the property team via email regarding the gnats (the previous water intrusion issue remains open and unresolved). • October 4, 2026: Management responded stating pest control and maintenance would visit. However, due to inadequate notice and an urgent personal matter, the interior pest treatment could not be completed that day. • October 5, 2026: Sent a follow-up request to management asking for the pest control technician to return ASAP due to the disruptive eating and working conditions. • October 7, 2026: Sent a follow-up email after receiving no response or reschedule options from management. Today, Oct 8, 2026 is going on the third day with no response. I am requesting the Bureau's intervention and a formal code enforcement inspection of the maintenance closet plumbing and the unit's interior.
