Interior alteration to improve the fire separation between Suites A and B at 1904 W Kennedy Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33606. Work includes installation of a one-sided steel-stud fire-rated wall assembly from the accessible Suite A side along the existing CMU demising wall. The new assembly will overlap the existing CMU wall a minimum of 12 inches below its top and extend continuously to the underside of the existing roof deck, in accordance with the approved architectural plans and UL V497 assembly requirements.
Provide metal studs and tracks, insulation, Type X gypsum board, fasteners, and joint treatment as required by the approved assembly. Frame around existing columns and coordinate the wall installation with existing steel beams, wood framing, and roof-support knee walls. Extend the fire separation continuously to the existing front CMU wall and through the rear vented soffit to its exterior termination as detailed.
Pack voids around penetrating wood and steel members, beam webs and flanges, and CMU intersections with ASTM C612 mineral wool having a minimum density of 4 pcf, or as required by the accepted firestop system. Install listed firestop sealants and approved joint and penetration protection to maintain continuity of the required fire-resistance rating. Protect any affected ducts, pipes, conduits, and air-transfer openings with approved listed systems and dampers where required. Verify concealed firestopping continuity before installing the final gypsum-board layer. Complete associated gypsum-board finishing in accordance with the approved plans.
