Property Maintenance -- Overgrowth - The front of the property faces Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, but the property extends north to Harwell Street, where it borders residential properties. The overgrowth being reported is at the rear/Harwell Street side of the property in the back, specifically along the side adjacent to 982 Harwell Street NW.
Trees, vines, shrubs, and other vegetation from 975 MLK have been allowed to grow extensively beyond the property line and into the neighboring residential property. The vegetation has become so overgrown that it interferes with use of the driveway at 982 Harwell Street, with branches and vegetation extending into the area where vehicles must park and pass.
More importantly, tree limbs from the overgrown area have recently fallen onto the neighboring house, creating a property-damage and safety concern. Vegetation can also be seen growing heavily against and around the vacant commercial building itself.
The other side of the commercial property appears to receive periodic vegetation maintenance, but this portion bordering 982 Harwell Street has been allowed to become severely overgrown.
I am requesting that Code Enforcement inspect the rear/Harwell Street side of 975 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW and require the responsible property owner to cut back and remove the excessive trees, limbs, vines, shrubs, and other vegetation that are encroaching onto the adjoining residential property and creating a potential safety hazard.
